Capitol Area Horse Show


The East Baton Rouge 4-H Horse Club will once again host the Capitol Area Open Horse Show this year on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Parker Coliseum, located on LSU's main campus in Baton Rouge, LA.


This event is open to any and all horse enthusiasts and will be broken into three divisions: 13 & under, 14 to 18, and 19 & up. Exhibitors will pay a $6.00 registration fee, along with a class fee of $8.00 per class.


This year will offer both performance and speed events. Awards will be given to High Point and Reserve High Point individuals in both performance and speed events, along with class awards to 1st through 5th place.


Performance events offered are:

showmanship, trail, walk-trot, western pleasure, horsemanship, western riding, hunter under saddle, and hunt seat equitation.


Speed events offered are:

stakes, poles, barrels, and arena race.


The show will begin promptly at 9:00 AM with showmanship running youngest to oldest. Following there will be a 30 minute break before moving into performance events. A 30 minute break will follow before moving into speed events. Arena race will conclude the show.
