Tips for Successful Trick-R-Treating

Halloween is a fun-filled night, full of trick-r-treating and costumes. To help you have the most successful experience possible, we've put together a list of things to consider.

1. Plan a route in advance: It is best to make sure you know where you're going. Stay away from unknown areas or places you're unfamiliar with.

2. Pick an appropriate costume: When choosing from the many options, be sure to pick something that is fun AND comfortable. Nothing ruins a night of trick-r-treating like an uncomfortable costume. Choose a costume that fits you correctly and is age appropriate. Avoid long, oversized costumes that may cause you to trip or fall.

3. Wear comfortable shoes: We know that your tennis shoes may not match perfectly with your costume, but with the amount of walking you'll be doing, you'll thank us later. Going house to house is sure to be more fun without having to worry about blisters or uncomfortable footwear.

4. Stick to lighted houses: While some enjoy Halloween, others do not. Be respectful of those houses who do not turn on exterior lights wishing not to participate.

5. Bring a flashlight: Flashlights come in handy when you're going around neighborhoods at night. Having a flashlight will help light the way and also let others known where you are.

6. Stay in a group: Avoid going off on your own. Stay with a group or your parents.

7. Check your candy: As hard as it may be to wait, have your parents check your candy before digging in. Stay away from unwrapped or unmarked candy pieces.
