See You at the Fair!
Each fall, the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair (GBSF) hosts a variety of carnival rides, games, exhibits, and MORE! We are sure that this year will not disappoint. The fair will run from October 22 through November 1, 2015.
The GBSF has been a tradition that dates back to 1985. For nearly 30 years, the fair has been providing an opportunity for friends and families to come together in a fun environment. All proceeds of the fair are donated back into the Baton Rouge community through grants and organizations. Since it's first fair, the GBSF has donated close to $2.5 million!
This year, the GBSF is excited to extend opportunities for competition to youth outside of the livestock realm. While the livestock show will still take place, those affiliated with the fair want to announce the start of the new Home Economic Exhibits!
They are:
- Artwork: Collages, Crayon Drawings, Paintings, Photography Exhibits, Sketches, and Any Other
- Handicraft: Birdhouses, Christmas Decor Items, Jewelry, and Any Other
- Baked Goods: Brownies, Candies, and Cookies
All exhibits must be dropped off between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM on October 24, 2015. Judging will begin at 1:00 PM. All entries must be picked up by 4:00 PM that afternoon.
Don't forget about the show! The GBSF will once again host the livestock shows, they will be:
- Rabbit Show: Saturday, Oct 24. Check-in by 12:30 PM, show starts at 1:00 PM
- Goat Show (market & breeding): Saturday, Oct 31. Check-in by 12:30 PM, show starts at 1:00 PM
- Beef Cattle Show: Sunday, Nov 1. Check-in by 12:30 PM, show starts at 1:00 PM
