GET INVOLVED IN ERB 4-H

It's not just for members!

The 4-H Program is truly a collaborative effort that takes many in order for it to be truly successful. While 4-H programming is directed for young people, ages 9-19, we gladly welcome parents, grandparents, family, friends, and volunteers to become a part of East Baton Rouge 4-H. Below you’ll find out how and what you can do to get involved and become active. There really is something for everyone, so take a look and find what best suites you. Signing up is easy, but the fun doesn't begin until you become active and take part!

 

BECOME A 4-H MEMBER

4-H Programming is offered to any and all youth, ages 9-19. Regardless if you're part of a school club, community club, or a member at large, you are equally important to the East Baton Rouge 4-H Program. Members do pay yearly $5.00 membership dues, which cover local and state enrollment fees. As a dues paying member, 4-H'ers are welcome to participate in any activity, event, or program that may be available to them, this includes camps, cookeries, contests, project clubs, and MORE! To become a member, first check to see if your school has a 4-H Club, if not click here and complete an enrollment card. Please send completed enrollment cards and dues to the 4-H Office, 805 St. Louis Street | Baton Rouge, LA 708002. Checks or money orders can be made payable to East Baton Rouge 4-H Foundation. You and your parent will be notified once your enrollment has been processed and your membership has begun.

BECOME A 4-H CLOVERBUD

4-H Cloverbud Programming is available to those youth who aren't quite old enough to become a 4-H member just yet. Cloverbuds is for youth ages 5-8, or Kindergarten to 3rd Grade. There are no membership dues, meaning it is completely free to become a Cloverbud. Enrolled Cloverbud members are eligible to participate in certain programs and activities. As their programming is non-competitive, they may be limited on participating in certain events/contests. However, Cloverbuds are fully emersed in 4-H Programming as they build friendships and explore the world around them. To become a Cloverbud member, first check to see if your school has a Cloverbud Program, if not click here and complete the enrollment card. BECOME A 4-H VOLUNTEER

4-H Volunteers play a key and critical role in the East Baton Rouge 4-H programming efforts. The 4-H staff relies heavily on volunteers to reach more youth, lead educational programs, coordinate activities, and manage clubs and groups. There are several roles a volunteer can serve which work with personal and family schedules, areas of expertise, and amount of time a volunteer is willing to contribute. 4-H Agents provide support to volunteers through training, curriculum resources, and opportunities to be engaged as a volunteer. There are no costs associated with becoming a volunteer and your level of envolvement is based strictly on you.

 

A person 18 years or older may serve as a volunteer; however, in order to serve as an adult overnight chaperone, a volunteer must be at least 21 years of age at the time of a 4-H event. To become a 4-H Volunteer, please contact a 4-H Agent by clicking here.

 

 

BECOME A 4-H SCHOOL LEADER

4-H School Leaders are extremely important! School leaders serve as the liaison between the East baton Rouge 4-H Office and the 4-H members enrolled in the school where you are a leader. School leaders assist with conducting club meetings, assist with some program development, and work closely with the 4-H agent and 4-H members. Leaders often are asked to assist in reminding members of various events, contests, camps, deadlines, etc. 4-H Agents will provide support through training, curriculum resources, and ooportunities to become engaged as a school leader.
