The 4-H Shooting Sports program is an educational activity to teach firearm safety to 4-H youth and to help them improve their marksmanship while helping them enjoy the great outdoors. This program is open to all 4-H'ers in 4th through 12th grade.

The program encompasses the initiative goals of volunteer leadership, capacity-building for youth and families, and environmental stewartship with commitments from the LSU AgCenter. The East Baton Rouge 4-H Shooting Sports Program is an active program that is attractive to both youth and adults. It uses positive learning and interaction with youth and adult role models. The disciplines are modeled after the National 4-H Shooting Sports Program and are administered by nationally certified state leaders consisting of extension peronnel and volunteers.

The mission of the Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports Program is to assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes so that they may become self-directing, productive, and contributing members of society.

The East Baton Rouge 4-H Shooting Sports Club is ready to get started and welcome new members! We will host our MANDATORY introductory meeting on Saturday, Oct 17 from 9:00-11:00 am at the EBR 4-H Property in Backer (8300 Comite Acres Dr, Baker, LA). This meeting will welcome members, new and old, introduce instructors, allow members to select a discipline, and review all needed safety procedures. While we want participants to have fun, it is critical they understand the necessary safety procedures to keep everyone safe.
